Cortana made her debut at the Microsoft BUILD Developer Conference (April 2–4, 2014). The fictional halo character Cortana later appeared in Windows 8 phone. The artificial intelligence is coming to life as your personal assistant in future Windows versions.
According to Microsoft, "She's there to help make things easier for you and keep you up to date on the things that matter to you.." She is not an IT assistant.
Ask Cortana, "Whose your daddy?" and she'll reply, "Technically, Bill Gates."
Ask her, "What are you wearing?" and she'll answer, "Something I picked up from Engineering."
Finally, ask her the series "What does the duck say?" And she'll quack. But ask her about the Fox and she'll let you know "Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!"
Cortana completes two level inferences. For example, ask Cortana what restaurants are near. She'll return a list. Next, ask her which of those restaurants are four star. She'll return a list.
